For city locality leaders
A Child Friendly Locality
A neighbourhood should work like a safe playground with a few streets in it, not the other way round.
What you can do
- Create safe parks, play areas and walkable routes to school.
- Improve street lighting and traffic safety near schools and homes.
- Support crèches and day care for working parents.
- Make sure residents know to call 1098 (Childline) or 112 if a child is at risk.
- Invite children and teens to share ideas at ward and society meetings.
Take the first step
Bring families in your ward or society together for a talk, a play day or a parent circle.
